Full details haven’t been released yet, but we do know what the 2023 Topps Baseball card design will look like.
The company used the Labor Day holiday to unveil a look at the front of next year’s flagship set, at the same time confirming the inclusion of Baltimore Orioles young star Adley Rutschman on the Series 1 checklist. Rutschman was the first overall pick in the 2019 draft and is currently in his first season as the Orioles’ catcher.
The flagship design is not only used for Series 1, 2 and Update but also for issues like Chrome and Sapphire.
This year’s look maintains the white border Topps has utilized for the last three years following a brief foray into borderless designs.
The lower part of the card appears to be a “scoreboard style” look with a head shot photo and a team logo. The player’s position is listed in the lower right. The initial reaction on social media has been largely positive.
We aren’t likely to see what the backs look like until release time.
Series 1 is expected to be released in the first half of February. We’ll have a complete look at the product when it becomes available.
