The current Pirates may have their issues, but inside an old firehouse, one of the game’s most elegant players is remembered.
The collection was too big; too nice to sit in a private home.
Pittsburgh photographer Duane Rieder has been collecting Clemente memorabilia for years and he is letting others see that collection.
The collection is kept in the former Enginehouse No. 25 on Penn Ave. in Lawrenceville, PA.
While the Pirates were opening their 2009 home schedule at PNC Park, the popular Pirate who died in a December 1972 plane crash was coming to life as a new tourist attraction thanks to the valuable collection of autographs, photos, game-used memorabilia and more.
Rieder has been working to get the collection set up for display and now that it is, he was happy to show it off.
