The top four trading card sellers on eBay have sold over 2.6 million cards in the last 12 months and all four rank among eBay’s top 100 sellers in the world by volume, according to new data from Marketplace Pulse,
COMC Consignment, which scans cards submitted to its platform, was the country’s top seller of cards over the last 12 months, shipping out over 847,000. In just six years offering its customers the chance to cross list cards from its main site on eBay’s platform, the company has sold 4.4 million through eBay.
In all, the top four dealers have now sold over 19.5 million cards during their time as registered sellers, which ranges from 20 years to just six.
Greg Morris Cards, which has been selling on eBay since 2002 and is also strictly a consignment business, has sold 5.7 million in that time and 785,000 over the past 12 months. The California-based company sells all of its cards via auction on eBay, all on consignment.
Burbank Sports Cards sells through its website and uses other online marketplaces as well, but its eBay sales volume since 2005 is 5.4 million cards. Burbank, which recently moved its physical store in Southern California to a much larger location, has sold 426,000 cards on eBay in the last year. The company currently has over 2.7 million cards listed.
The seller with the fourth highest all-time eBay volume is Probstein123. Long-time New Jersey-based dealer Rick Probstein has sold 3.9 million cards on eBay since 2005 and about 566,000 in the last 12 months, mostly via ongoing auctions.
Overall and worldwide, 14 sellers have sold at least 10 million items on eBay. The top two sellers are UK-based dealers of music and books, topped by Music Magpie, which has sold a staggering 36 million lots in all and nearly three million items in the last 12 months.
