The entrance music that’s giving Enter Sandman a brassy run for its money has spawned a baseball card—and one of the more creative autographs you’ll see.
Topps commemorated Timmy Trumpet’s live appearance at the Mets-Dodgers game Wednesday night with a baseball card issued through its on-demand NOW platform.
The cards are available until midday Friday via this page on Topps’ website. They’re also being offered on eBay.
The Australian trumpet player whose tooting is the centerpiece of the song Narco that plays at Citi Field each time the Mets’ closer enters the game will also sign some of the cards, the cheapest of which were priced at $74.99 and numbered to 99. Lower numbered cards at higher prices quickly sold out.
His autograph—assuming the actual signatures delivered to collectors are the same as the mockup—incorporates a trumpet.
Timmy Trumpet’s enthusiastic live rendition heading into the top of the ninth quickly became a viral sensation. It was the first time he’d played his part of the Blasterjaxx song in person, although the song has been played for Diaz’s entrance for a while now.
“Speechless,” the 40-year-old musician commented in an Instagram post about his experience.
Trumpet, whose real name is Timothy Jude Smith, also threw out the first pitch before the game, although from the toss it was pretty obvious that baseball was not his game.
