Pranksters are causing a stir–and maybe a collector’s item–in Denver by replacing Tiger Woods’ endorsed Gatorade "Focus" labels with something a little less flattering.
Shoppers in the Denver area have been doing double takes in at least one grocery store chain’s thirst quenching drink aisle.
Among the multi-colored bottles of Gatorade lining the shelves are some with labels that are drastically different than what is supposed to be there.
Tiger Woods has been the main pitch man for the product and Gatorade labels have been carrying the one-word motto "Focus" as part of the marketing campaign.
But….someone with a major bone to pick with Tiger peeled off the old label and put a new one around the liquid refreshment. The label includes a picture of Woods and his wife Elin on one side with the word "unfaithful" on the other.
Store officials and Gatorade folks are investigating the embarrassing episode, but some sports fans and collectors in the area gobbled them up. After all, the perpetrators took time to number them on the bottom.
Was it someone on the inside who didn’t like the company backing Woods over his infidelity or just a local yokel who managed to make the switch at the store?
While checking into the story, 9News in Denver found one guy who got ahold of some of them.
Gatorade had already announced plans to stop using Woods on its products.
