The remnants of Tiger Stadium will apparently bring the city of Detroit less than $600,000 when everything is packed up and shipped out. Winning bidders came by Tuesday to grab a memory of the old ballpark.
The auction of Tiger Stadium seats brought in over $2 million but by the time expenses and shipping costs are paid, the total realized price will be only about $400,000 according to the Detroit News.
The recent auction of other memorabilia salvaged from the stadium totalled less than $200,000. Much of what remained was dusty and there were no old Charlie Gehringer jerseys lying around. Still, fans who bought the stuff seemed happy and a few items are still available for sale.
