One of the hobby’s most popular post-War baseball cards has a new record price. A 1954 Topps Hank Aaron rookie card graded Mint 9 by PSA sold for $720,000 late Thursday night, breaking the old mark of $645,000. The card sold by PWCC is one of only 25 graded PSA 9 (there are two 10s) out of more than 6,000 examined by the company. A Bill Russell jersey photo matched to Game 7 of the 1966 NBA Finals and signed by the Boston Celtics great sold for $966,000 late Saturday night at Goldin Auctions.
