So you love Michael Jordan rookie cards? That's great, but for about the same price as a box of 1986-87 Fleer, you can own one of his old cars. The Beverly Hills Car Club has just launched an auction for a 1996 Mercedes-Benz S600 Lorinser once owned by Jordan and seen briefly in The Last Dance. The starting bid? $23,000, of course. Ramblings: More Women, Mailbag, Fun With Topps Million
by Rich Klein A few updates on previous ramblings: A couple of weeks ago, we wrote about ladies in the sports card hobby as I opined about being the only male in a house with four females. Thanks to circumstances beyond our control, we ended up (at least for now) with another female dog named Jenny. I'm now outnumbered five to one. Lud Denny: In writing about Pro Set … [Read more...] about Ramblings: More Women, Mailbag, Fun With Topps Million
2011 Bowman Draft Picks and Prospects Box Break
by Rich Klein First of all, I apologize for the long delay in writing this review. As we discussed in a previous Rich's Ramblings, life took a turn (or in my case a t-bone without the steak) and I have been on the hobby DL for a while. Needless to say, box reviews come second to health issues. The other aspect that came out of the car wreck was the return of car payments. … [Read more...] about 2011 Bowman Draft Picks and Prospects Box Break
Gill Byrd’s ‘Football Suit’ in Hall’s Collection
Most game-worn collectors like the unusual. A jersey with some character. One that's been altered to fit a player's request. It never made it to the marketplace (as far as we know) and it would up being illegal, but this one definitely takes the cake for unusual. Race car drivers don't wear jerseys and pants. It turns out, at least one football player thought the 'sports … [Read more...] about Gill Byrd’s ‘Football Suit’ in Hall’s Collection
Police Seek Sonata, Stretch Stealer
It was a thief's dream. A car with the keys in the ignition. In Walnut Creek, Calif., Monday, a man who inadvertently left them there saw someone driving away from the McDonald's parking lot where the vehicle was parked. Police aren't saying how many items there were, but they do say … [Read more...] about Police Seek Sonata, Stretch Stealer

The victim said the cards were in a special wooden box and "worth a considerable amount of money," according to Livingston Daily. … [Read more...] about Hockey Card Crook: Vintage Parkies Pilfered
Wanna Buy Penny Hardaway’s 1965 Ford Mustang?
Penny Hardaway had plenty of money after being drafted out of Memphis back in the early 1990s. Enough, apparently, to fix up at least one classic car. A 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback he once owned is now up for bid on eBay. According to the current owner, Desert Auto Sport of Phoenix, Hardaway spent $30,000 with 310 Motoring out of Los Angeles to get the car the way he wanted … [Read more...] about Wanna Buy Penny Hardaway’s 1965 Ford Mustang?
Signed Hockey Jerseys Stolen From ex-NHL Coach’s Widow
It's about as low as you can get. Monday, NHL friends and family members said goodbye to Pat Burns, who led the New Jersey Devils to the 2003 Stanley Cup. Just a few hours later, someone broke into his widow's car and stole about 30 signed hockey jerseys and other items belonging to the couple. The theft took place in Montreal. The jerseys represented all 30 teams … [Read more...] about Signed Hockey Jerseys Stolen From ex-NHL Coach’s Widow
PA Man Says He Has Mazeroski’s ’60 World Series Jersey
The ball has been lost to history but the jersey Bill Mazeroski was wearing the day he hit the home run that won the World Series is apparently alive, well and living in a secure location somewhere near Pittsburgh. Orthopedic surgeon Mitch Antin rescued it from, of all places, use as a car wash rag some thirty years ago. It seems a good friend of Antin's … [Read more...] about PA Man Says He Has Mazeroski’s ’60 World Series Jersey
