T206: The Players and Their Stories should be a popular choice for summer reading.
The lengthy project, coordinated by some Massachusetts-based baseball fans, culminates with the book’s release and publicity efforts beginning this weekend.
T206 showcases all of the cigarette baseball cards, but the book’s content is more about the players themselves, in essence answering the question: “who were these guys?”
It’s a coffee table book, not just a quick read, but it’s one collectors and fans of baseball history alike should devour.
The book took about 18 months worth of research and the authors have been drumming up interest online through a Facebook page and interviews. They talked with Newburyport News about their research as they prepared to ship out the first volumes.
