Super Break released the hobby’s most expensive repacked product ever Wednesday with its 2015 Super Break Deluxe Box Breakers Edition. Aimed at high-end collectors, the 30 x 25” box comes with 10-15 custom-wrapped, high-end items. They could be anything from graded cards to game-used items, autographs and other memorabilia.
The price? $7,250… but many of the 120 boxes produced are being offered by box breakers, who are splitting it up into as few as ten or as many as 50 spots.
Steel City Collectibles was offering two unopened boxes on eBay.
Super Break CEO Scott Allen says his company spent about a year accumulating the inventory and then splitting it up among the ten dozen 30 x 25” boxes. Think of it as a giant Christmas package from your fabulously wealthy grandpa.
Promotional material showcases multiple autographs from Babe Ruth (including a signed baseball) and Michael Jordan, plus Lou Gehrig, Honus Wagner, Ty Cobb, Roberto Clemente, Jackie Robinson and other icons.
And it won’t be all sports. The company has packed cut autographs from Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, John F. Kennedy and other U.S. presidents into the product, some of which were originally pulled as 1/1 issues from trading card manufacturers. An FDR cut has been pulled and sold on eBay Wednesday night. There’s a card bearing the cut signatures of all four Beatles, one featuring Thomas Edison, another with John Wayne and even one with Samuel Clemens (Mark Twain). Buffalo Bill, Orville Wright, Walt Disney, the Roosevelts and JP Morgan are among the luminaries sharing the product with athletes past and present.
Some of the signatures will come on a new product called “The Bar”, a 1/1 original certified by BGS/JSA with the certified autograph and a gold bar logo on the front. The precious metal/gem content is listed on the reverse along with a bio of the individual subject and a picture of the actual signed item.
Other items packed inside include game and autographed jerseys, fight robes, team-signed baseballs, caps, pictures, cleats, boxing gloves, batting gloves, historical documents, bank checks and game-worn catcher’s gear. Super Break purchased items authenticated by PSA, MEARS, JSA, Upper Deck Authenticated, Steiner, TriStar, Leaf and Mounted Memories, among others.
