Just before 1 PM Eastern time Monday, Topps released its initial public offering of Stephen Strasburg’s first eTopps Major League card.
Just 1,999 were made available at a price of $8 each. The offer is good through next Sunday, June 20, but the card is expected to sell out, so there is no guarantee those who order will receive any of the cards they order. Orders will be taken through the initial player offering time frame and those who placed orders will be notified next week if they received any of the cards ordered.
Strasburg’s hot start with the Washington Nationals has Topps scrambling to take advantage of its contract with the rookie. It released a rookie card available througits h Topps Million game the night of his debut, just days after his Bowman Chrome Superfractor sold for over $16,000. The company is also selling autographed Strasburg memorabilia on its website.
The company released a minor league card of Strasburg in its eTopps line, featuring him in a Harrisburg Senators uniform. That card is currently trading in the $30-35 range.
