Over 1,000 lots ranging from the 19th century to the current era are on the block in Sterling Sports Auctions’ September catalog.
Dozens of iconic single cards join complete sets, lots, autographs and unopened material. It’s a “collector-oriented” auction with lesser grade vintage stars and rookies available and some lots starting with a minimum bid of $20.
Among the highlights: a pair of 1933 Goudey Babe Ruth cards, a PSA 5 1954 Topps Hank Aaron rookie card, a 1949 Bowman Satchel Paige PSA 6, a PSA 3 1915 Cracker Jack Branch Rickey, T206 Ty Cobb Green Portrait (PSA 1), a PSA 3 1909 E92 Dockman & Sons Christy Mathewson, rookie cards of Roberto Clemente and Sandy Koufax, a 1941 Play Ball cards of Joe DiMaggio and Ted Williams and a complete 1955 Topps Doubleheaders set without the usual fold lines.
Nearly half of the lots in the auction feature pre-War tobacco and candy cards, 1907 Dietsche postcards and other issues.
Cards and memorabilia from all four major sports are represented along with boxing and non-sports cards.
Bidding is set to close Thursday, September 24 at SterlingSportsAuctions.com.
Initial bids must be in by 8 pm EST on the night of the auction with extended bidding to follow.
The company has two more auctions planned for later this year.
