At least two state lotteries are offering game-worn NFL jerseys as part of their prize packages for non-winning tickets.
State lotteries in several areas near NFL teams are taking advantage of new rules that allow team logos on scratch-off tickets by instituting football-themed games.
The Cleveland Browns are featured on an instant-win game with $5 scratch-off tickets offering a top instant prize of $100,000. It’s a 1.5 million-to-1 shot, but smaller prizes offer better odds.
Collectors, however, may prefer sending in their losing tickets. Players who don’t win instantly will be able to mail in those used scratchers to gain entry into four drawings for losers’ prizes, including what Lottery organizers say are game-worn jerseys and other memorabilia.
The Baltimore Ravens are doing the same thing, with game-used jerseys as part of the prizes offered in second-chance drawings.
The Texas Lottery is offering signed Cowboys jerseys among its non-winning ticket prizes while the Tennessee lottery says it will have team-signed footballs and autographed jerseys.
The New England Patriots, Washington Redskins, Denver Broncos, Seattle Seahawks, New Orleans Saints and Cincinnati Bengals are among other franchises featured on state lottery games, although its uncertain if any are offering game-worn duds in exchange for…duds.
