May the force be with those who bid in the USA Hockey MeiGray Group’s National Team Development Program jersey auction. At least, bidders are hoping for some celestial karma.
The jerseys for sale in the auction, which ends Thursday, March 7, have a Star Wars theme. On Jan. 26, the U.S. national under-17 team wore Star Wars-themed jerseys, featuring the Millennium Falcon, when it played against the Central Illinois Flying Aces.
It was the sixth time the national team development program squad has donned Star Wars apparel. Every year, a different icon has been used.
The game was held at the USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Michigan, and the Flying Aces won 4-1.
For the auction, there are 21 game-worn jerseys and one game-issued jersey for sale, and all were autographed by the players. The only jersey that did not get into the game was a backup sweater belonging to Noah Grannan.
Each jersey sold during the auction will include pants, which are not specific to the player’s jersey.
Proceeds from the auction will benefit C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Each jersey was collected after the game by Team USA’s equipment staff. They have security tags and have individual serial numbered inventory tags from the USA Hockey-MeiGray Authentication Program.
The minimum bid for each jersey is $250.
