St. Louis police are investigating the shooting death of St. Louis card and comic shop owner Kenneth McClure.
The 57-year-old owner of Legends Comics and Sports Cards was found dead in Route 66 State Park on Tuesday. He had been shot in the head.
McClure had been charged with the statutory rape of a 13-year-old girl last month and held police at bay for three hours, holding a gun to his head.
He had recently turned the shop over to his nephew and had been scheduled for a court appearance the day he was shot.
Police arrested a 32-year-old man and 25-year-old woman but the pair was released from custody after the case was taken under advisement by the county prosecutor’s office. According to this report from KMOV-TV, the female suspect is a store employee.
It’s a bizarre case, with plenty of twists and turns still to be unraveled.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch also spoke at length with McClure’s nephew about what had happened since his uncle had been charged.
