Sports Mem’s Top Selling Trading Card Products, Athletes in May

The most popular sports card products sold through the biggest online retailer of sports collectibles last month included some items you’re not likely to find on a similar list from your local hobby shop while the list of hot players included a past great and a couple of young stars.

For the third straight month, SportsMemorabilia.com reported that the 2018 Donruss Football 11-pack Fanatics exclusive blaster boxes topped the list but are now sold out.  Why so hot?  The boxes include orange parallel cards that can only be found in those boxes sold through Fanatics properties.  The strong sales would seem to indicate we can probably look for them to return in 2019 but there’s no confirmation of that yet.

2018 Topps Stadium Club boxes were also again big sellers for the company in May, while some 2019 baseball and football products and some special boxed sets also made the cut.  The full list is below.

The top selling athlete on SportsMemorabilia.com in May was Joe Montana, topped by autographed copies of his 1981 Topps rookie card.  The company doesn’t release specific sales figures.  The second biggest selling player was 21-year-old Boston Bruins star Charlie McAvoy, whose 2018-19 Upper Deck autographed rookie cards found plenty of buyers at $39.99.  Auston Matthews’ signed 2017-18 Upper Deck rookies (#170) helped him become the third best selling player while cards of New York Mets rookie Pete Alonso were fourth on the list.
