It’s a strange time when the convergence of all of the major sports happens in August, but here we are. With NFL training camps underway, the NBA and NHL playoffs getting started and Major League Baseball moving forward, there’s going to be a game to watch if you want to rip open a box or two in the final full month of summer.
Here’s a roundup of some of the products that will be hitting card shops, online retailers and break rooms.

2020 Topps Archives Baseball
Archives returns with its usual array of old designs on a modern product. Hobby boxes will carry 24 packs with eight cards in each. Each box promises two autographed cards along with a Nickname Mini-Poster.
The base set will include 300 cards, portraying active veterans and rookies along with former greats on the 1955, 1974 and 2002 Topps designs with other nods to the 1960 Topps All-Star Rookies, combo cards and 1976 Traded cards.
Boxes are available online for around $145.
2019-20 Upper Deck Ultimate Collection Hockey
A hobby box of Ultimate will consist of one pack, with four cards to a pack. Upper Deck is promising one rookie autograph or rookie memorabilia card, two autograph, memorabilia or autograph memorabilia cards, and either a base card, parallel card or one of the Ultimate Introductions insert cards.
Boxes are running $130-$140.

2020 Panini Certified Football
Certified is back with ten packs of five cards per box with the best online prices at $245-$255 right now (First Off The Line versions are a bit higher). Freshman Fabric signatures, with its jumbo sized swatches, will be among the big draws.
Each box, on average, will hold:
– 1 Freshman Fabric Signature
– 1 Additional Autograph
– 2 Memorabilia Cards
– 2 Rookies Or Rookie Parallels
– 3 Numbered Parallels

2020 Topps Five Star Baseball
Five Star is back, offering up two signed cards as the only content in each box. Both cards will feature on-card autographs but higher value cut signature cards of past greats are also possible.
Boxes are online for around $220.
2020 Bowman Transcendent Baseball
Topps brings its exclusive, ultra-high-end Transcendent product to the prospect realm. Only 100 boxes are being produced. Each box will have a 50-card Bowman Icons set, 30 autograph cards, plus a Vlad Guerrero Jr. or Yordan Alvarez ‘Through the years’ autograph card, a 1955 Bowman-style 1/1 SuperFractor autograph, an oversized 1955 Bowman Cut Signature autograph card and one graded Historic Bowman buyback.
Each box will also have a VIP invitation to a party with players at a later date where more cards/autographs will be dished out.
The price? Around $22,000 as of now.
2020-21 Upper Deck MVP Hockey
The kickoff to the new hockey card collecting season traditionally begins with this lower cost product. Among the attractions: the first 2020-21 rookie cards, including 2020 #1 Draft Pick Redemption cards. Each box will have at least 50 inserts. There’s a 250-card Base Set, including 50 High Series Star & Rookie SP’s
Each box has 20 packs with eight cards in each. Retail and blaster boxes are already online.
2020 Panini Black Football
2020 Panini Black is a higher end product, offering one five-card pack per box. Inside each will be one base card, a parallel, one autograph card, a memorabilia card and a rookie patch autograph card.
Panini is promising more rookie content along with more inserts this year.
New in 2020 look for Super Bowl Teammates Dual and Triple Autographs.
On-card autographs will be found in Midnight Signatures, Capstones, Brights Lights Signatures, Storm Signatures and Shadow Ink.
