No games just yet, but the sports card products continue to roll out. Baseball, football, basketball and hockey releases are set to arrive over the last ten days of July.
Here’s a roundup of what’s hitting the market and when.
Topps Sterling Baseball (7/22)
Back after a ten-year hiatus and not to be confused with the Bowman issue, Topps Sterling will carry two high end cards, each in its own pack.
One pack will have an autographed relic card numbered to 25 or less while the other will carry either a second signed memorabilia card or a high-end type relic card with a 1/1 in every five boxes.
It’ll be interesting to see what comes out as the lowest eBay price for a box right now is $800.
2019-20 Upper Deck Premier Hockey (7/22)
2019-20 Premier has several Rookie Auto Patch cards that’ll be numbered to 249 or less, including the
popular Acetate Rookies Auto Patches featuring a large patch and a hard-signed autograph on Acetate stock. Each box (a bit under $220 online right now) will include:
- 1 Acetate Autographed Patch Card
- 1 Additional Autographed Card
- 2 Additional Memorabilia Cards
- 1 Veteran Base Card
- 1 Rookie Base Card
2020 Upper Deck Goodwin Champions (7/22)
The wide-ranging and typically fun product is back with everything from Michael Jordan Chicago Stadium relics to cats to Aesop’s Fables. There’s even a big shout out to 1930s Goudey cards. Upper Deck has secured some Jasson Dominguez and Wander Franco autographs for Goodwin.
Each box has 20 packs with five cards per pack. They should run about $100 online upon release. Highlights per box include:
- 10 Splash of Color SPs and/or Goudey-style cards
- 7 Minis (Base + Goudey)
- 3 hits encompassing autograph, memorabilia, manufactured patch and/or relic sets
2020 Topps Museum Baseball (7/29)
Each 2020 Museum hobby box will have four packs (mini boxes) with five cards in each: three base cards, a base parallel and one hit. Those hits will include one Autograph Relic, one on-card autograph, one Quad Relic and one relic card per box.
Big hits include 1/1 Museum Framed Autograph Patches with on-card autographs accompanied by large pieces of game-used jerseys. Dual versions will be on a booklet-style card.
Boxes are $250-$300 on eBay.
2020 Donruss Elite Football (7/29)
Elite offers 20 packs of five cards each. Turn of the Century Rookie Autographs numbered to 199 or less and Pen Pals are among the ones to look for. Every box (around $265 on eBay now) should pack:
- 2 Autographs (One Pen Pal Auto)
- 1 Memorabilia Card
- 3 Rookies
- 6 Parallels
- 8 Inserts
2019-20 Upper Deck Ultimate Hockey (7/29)
A hobby box of Ultimate (around $130 when it goes live) will consist of one pack, with four cards to a pack.
Upper Deck says each will have one rookie autograph or rookie memorabilia card, two autograph, memorabilia or autograph memorabilia cards, and either a base card, parallel card or an Ultimate Introductions insert card.
2019-20 Panini Chronicles Basketball
A mashup of multiple brands, each box of Chronicles will include six packs with eight cards per pack. Expect to find two autographs per box.
Look for some update cards utilizing a pair of those popular brands and a new “Airborne” autograph subset.
As usual with this season’s basketball releases, boxes are selling well above SRP.
Also set for release are Donruss Optic Baseball (7/22) and Panini Impeccable Soccer (7/29).
