There are some popular sports card releases set to arrive in the near term, including football, baseball, basketball and soccer products that should see some action as we head into the next to last month of the calendar year.
Here’s an overview:
10/26/22
2022 Panini Black Football
If you like your cards shiny and dark, 2022 Panini Black fits the bill. It’s a semi-higher end product with each Hobby box holding one five-card pack that will contain two autographs–one RPA, one additional autograph, a memorabilia card, base card and base parallel.
The RPAs will be numbered to 199, with lower number parallel versions. Sizable Signatures Rookie Jerseys and Rookie Signature Materials are other subsets to find autographs of first year players.
2021-22 Panini Select Basketball
One of the biggest basketball releases arrives fashionably late. Hobby boxes of 2021-22 Select (yes, it’s a ’21-22 product, rather than ’21-22) will contain 12 packs with 5 cards per pack. A typical box will have three autographs and/or memorabilia cards.
Rookie Jersey Autographs and Rookie Signatures will be among the most sought after cards in the product. In Flight Signatures returns with multiple parallels in the works including the 1/1 Black Prizm. Once again, there are three levels of base cards in terms or rarity.

2022 Topps Update Baseball
The third element of Topps’ annual flagship set trilogy returns at World Series time with rookies who debuted this season, traded players and some All-Star Game content all part of the mix. 2022 Update will host the true flagship rookie cards of Julio Rodriguez, Bobby Witt Jr., Spencer Torkelson, and Seiya Suzuki, among others.
Boxes will be offered in a few different configurations including 24-pack Hobby boxes that have 14 cards including an autograph and relic. Jumbo boxes will carry 10 packs of 46 cards each including an autograph and two relic cards.

2022 Panini Origins Football
Each hobby box of Origins will feature one pack with seven cards. Your average box will have one Jumbo Rookie Patch Autograph along with one other auto, a memorabilia card, two base, rookie base or rookie variations and two base parallels.
The Rookie Jumbo Patch Autographs feature an oversized jersey autograph of top 2022 rookies.
2022 Panini Prizm World Cup (Update: Now delayed until Nov. 9)
The upcoming World Cup gets the Prizm treatment with the standard large base set (300 cards in this case) and tons of parallels (12 per box including four numbered).
Each Hobby box will have 12 packs of 12 cards including an autograph but there will be Breakaway and Choice options that don’t guarantee a singed card and have some exclusive parallels.
Look for boxes to push $700 and up.
