The first 2020-branded baseball products will arrive in the coming days, but they won’t be alone. Here’s a look at the sports card releases arriving soon.
2019-20 Panini Crown Royale Basketball 1/29
With a history that dates back to the 1990s, Crown Royale offers eight cards per box, including an autograph, memorabilia card and two parallels or inserts.
Silhouettes and Rookie Silhouettes are among the hot cards here. Big hits inside that group will be the rare Prime Parallels (#’d /25 or less).
Boxes are available on eBay for $160-$175.
2019 Panini Limited Football 2/5
Limited boxes will have three packs with five cards in each. Each box will have two autos and one memorabilia card, on average.
Each box features one Rookie Patch Autograph or Rookie Patch Autograph Variation.
Look for Draft Day Signature Booklets, which contain a piece from the player’s actual jersey held on stage at the 2019 NFL Draft.
Boxes are currently sitting at $130-$150.
Topps Archives Signature Series Active Player Edition 1/29
Topps’ first 2020-branded baseball product arrives with the return of Archives Signature. Originally scheduled for release January 8, it was recently pushed back, likely because of some late arriving autographs.
Each box simply holds one autographed card from a previous Topps release, with each signed on-card, serial numbered and foil stamped with the 2020 Archives Signature Series logo.
Dual-autographed cards featuring some major stars are new this year. Boxes are available now on eBay for $40-$50.
2020 Topps Series 1 Baseball (2/5)
The first of the three-part flagship release kicks off the new season with Hobby and Jumbo boxes again being produced.
Series 1 will have a 350-card base set with a large number of parallels and various inserts. The 35th anniversary of the 1985 set is being celebrated this year.
Hobby boxes have 24 packs per box with 14 cards per pack. Each box will have one autograph or one relic card. Jumbos will guarantee and autograph and two relic cards and hold 46 cards in all (see both on eBay here).
2019-20 Panini Donruss Optic Basketball (2/12)
Donruss Optic has become a pretty popular product and the NBA edition returns in a big year for rookies, not long after the debut of Zion Williamson, which could be significant. As usual, Optic puts a chromium touch on the regular Donruss design.
Each hobby box will carry 20 packs with four cards per pack. Each box should have one autograph and 20 parallels in addition to the base card content. Box prices vary quite a bit right now, but $325-$375 is generally the going rate.
There will also be a factory set.
Also being released in this time frame: Leaf Ultimate Baseball (2/7); Leaf Pearl (2/7) Panini Obsession Soccer (1/29); Leaf Metal Draft Baseball (1/24); Panini Donruss Racing (2/5) and Upper Deck Allure Hockey (2/5).
