The Spectrum, home to the NBA’s Sixers and the NHL’s Flyers for parts of five decades, will soon meet the wrecking ball, but not before physical momentos and office fixtures were sold off.
Others came, no doubt, to try and make a profit.
After all, the price was right. $25 admission got you whatever you could carry out in one trip. Hockey nets and sticks were sold along with boards from the hockey rink. A few autographed items were found, along with hundreds of folding chairs and even the giant letters that spelled out “Spectrum”.
Over 1,000 streamed through the doors in the first half hour alone, according to the Courier-Post, which offered a story, a video and photos.
