The Chicago White Sox opened up the storage closet over the weekend.
There were no Shoeless Joe spikes. Not an Early Wynn cap to be found. Not even a pair of Chet Lemon’s shorts, circa 1977.
But there was plenty of modern game-used gear for sale during the White Sox garage sale at
Comiskey Park US Cellular Field Saturday.
Thousands of fans and collectors turned out to find a bargain or two or at least add something to their collection. If you wanted a star player’s shirt, the Sox made sure you didn’t get off cheap, but according to the Chicago Tribune, there were folks who were happy with anything game used.
Dozens lined up long before the doors opened to try and snare the better items.
Some collectors showed off their purchases in the Game Used forum.
