A Padres’ fan latched onto Barry Bonds’ 755th home run ball Saturday night.
Prior to Saturday’s blast, Barry Bonds was asked if he’d want the baseballs back from the homers that tie and break the Aaron record.
“No,” he said. “I had a little kid come up to me and say he’d give it back. I said, ‘Are you stupid? You’d have more money than your parents. They’d owe you.’ I said, ‘I’ll be your trustee.’ ”
Adam Hughes was hoping he might see history when he went to the Giants/Padres game Saturday night. He got his wish …and a souvenir that might pay off a bunch of bills. Hughes won the scrum for the ball that pushed Bonds into a tie with Hank Aaron. "I’m ecstatic," he said.
