A portion of the special Staples Center floor where Kobe Bryant played his last game sold for $179,100 on Monday.
NBA Auctions and MeiGray sold the purple and white “#8” Bryant signed section in an online auction that began April 27. The four panels, which measure 4 feet by 8 feet each, create a 20-foot by 8-foot Tetris-shaped tribute to Bryant, who scored 60 points in his final NBA game. Bryant played in 1,346 NBA contests in a career dating back to 1996.
Bryant wore number 8 and 24 during his career, spent entirely with the Lakers.
There was no immediate word who purchased the court section. A total of 202 bids were placed before the auction closed.
Proceeds will benefit LA area youth charities.
