Scott Smith is the Sports Illustrated King and it’s not even close.
At least when it comes to signed issues.
A couple of weeks ago we brought you the story on Smith’s hoard of SIs and how he gets Sharpie signatures on them, staking out hotels, airports and other locations. Since then, he’s been featured in several other media outlets. It turns out that offering about 12,000 signed copies of Sports Illustrated on eBay for $2 million can result in a lot of media attention.
So far, he hasn’t found a buyer for the whole lot, but there’s not much doubt he’s gotten some new customers from the awareness generated by the stories.
