Selling baseball cards only won’t keep you in the hobby shop business these days. Successful shops almost always have to have a flexible approach and be willing to step outside what once may have been their comfort zone.
For long-time dealer Lou Brown, that’s meant not only selling a wide variety of items, but also catering to a broader clientele.
Brown just moved his Grand Rapids business, Legends Sports and Games, to a larger mall store with 8,000 square feet. That means he keeps his large base of game players happy. They’re helping pay the bills that sports collectors alone can not.
Brown is diversified not just in what his stores carry but also how and where he sells. His move to a former bookstore space caught the attention of the Grand Rapids Press.
