About a year ago, Chris Tinder took over The Sportsroom, a hobby shop in Beaverton, OR, buying the store and everything in it.
Like every store owner, he answers questions from area residents who have items to sell. Sometimes the news that the autographed item they bought online and want to sell is likely a forgery.
In fact, long before he became a business owner, Tinder discovered some expensive signed items in his own collection that professional authenticators dismissed as fakes. A closer look and a little more research showed him why.
KPTV in Portland recently stopped by the shop to talk sports memorabilia authenticity and reporter Haley Rush quickly discovered that buying signed items on eBay can be a dicey business if you don’t know what you’re doing. Watch the story below.
