Shawn Chaulk’s Wayne Gretzky collection is second to none and occupied his time for nearly 20 years but it’s about to be broken up and sold off, piece by museum-quality piece. We’ve directed stories of his collection your way before. Among hockey collectors, he’s quite a legend. Today, 
though, marks the beginning of the end of the Gretzky Collection Auction.
Montreal-based Classic Auctions is selling off dozens of items that once occupied Chaulk’s home, displayed beautifully in lighted cases, preserved like the hockey history they are. The auction opens Friday and interest is expected to be off the charts.
There’s never been a Great One other than Gretzky and it’s unlikely we’ll see anyone quite like him again.
Chaulk’s collection includes numerous items from Gretzky milestone games, including game-worn equipment, the jersey he was wearing when he scored his 500th goal, a wall full of sticks, mini Stanley Cup trophies and other items that will sell for big money.
