The highest-graded complete run of unused Super Bowl tickets ever assembled sold for $200,155 to top bidding in SCP Auctions’ Spring Catalog over the weekend. The collection included one full ticket from each Super Bowl game from the first game in 1967 to Super Bowl LI in 2017. The price was the most paid for any run of Super Bowl tickets ever sold.
Several lots reached six figures in the auction. A 1934 All-Star Game 10k gold pendant presented to Lou Gehrig during his Triple Crown season sold for $146,779. The Presidential Medal of Freedom given to Jesse Owens by President Gerald Ford in 1976 sold for $128,617, topping a group of items from the 1936 Olympic hero’s estate. The 22k gold medal issued posthumously to Owens by President George H.W. Bush in 1990 soared to $85,592.
A group of 19th century Cleveland Spiders cabinet cards consigned by descendants of Jake Virtue surpassed pre-sale estimates by selling for a total of $340,000. A one-of-a-kind rookie era Cy Young card from 1891-92 led the way, realizing $130,027. A circa 1893 Pifer & Becker Young reached $97,508.
