A game-fixing scandal has made some autographed baseballs in China’s pro league "unfit" to give away.
It’s a scandal that would have made the Black Sox blush.
An entire team and management from the Chinese Professional Baseball League has been banned over allegedly throwing some games to benefit gamblers during the 2008 season. It’s been a huge scandal in a country that had just begun to embrace pro ball.
Caught in the middle…some memorabilia.
It seems a number of players had autographed baseballs to be given away as gifts but handing them out would be a bad public relations move for the league. They’re taking suggestions on what to do with them, according to this story in the China Post.
If you spot them in an upcoming American sports memorabilia auction, we’ll expect a finder’s fee.
