Lelands has kicked off its 2017 Winter Auction with over 1,200 lots of sports, historic and entertainment memorabilia on the block.
In addition to the launch of its partnership with the Pittsburgh Steelers that has several game-worn jerseys up for bid, the auction includes game-used memorabilia, sports cards and other material from iconic athletes past and present.
Among the material up for bid: a Roberto Clemente 1960 World Series game-used bat, a signed and inscribed Babe Ruth game model bat, Secretariat owner Penny Chenery Tweedy’s dress worn at the 1973 Belmont and Preakness Triple Crown victories, a Walt Frazier circa 1971 Knicks game-worn jersey, a 1970s Dave Debusschere signed Knicks warm-up top, a 1970s Earl Monroe Knicks game-used jersey, Yankees pitcher Don Larsen’s 1956 World Series “Perfect Game” rosin bag, 1976 George Foreman fight-worn trunks from Frazier II, and the 1976 Olympics basketball gold medal and World Championship medals from Natalya Klimova.
The auction also includes a 1960-61 Ernie Davis Syracuse University game-used jersey and a game-used football from Syracuse’s 1959 National Championship season, Tony Casillas’ 1992 Dallas Cowboys Super Bowl Ring, a 2001 New England Patriots Super Bowl ring, Patriots star Rob Gronkowski’s signed game-worn “Deflategate” gloves, and a 1972 Don Maynard New York Jets game-worn jersey.
Other baseball items include a 1940s Mel Ott game-used bat, a 1955 Brooklyn Dodgers team-signed baseball, Los Angeles Dodgers great Pedro Guerrero’s 1981 World Series MVP Trophy, Babe Ruth’s first Major League game program, a rare 1933 Uncle Jack’s Candy Babe Ruth card, a Mickey Mantle baseball signed “I Love You” to a former Playboy bunny, a 1921 Yankees team panoramic photo, 1970s game-worn jerseys from Yankees greats Jim “Catfish” Hunter, Rich “Goose” Gossage, Graig Nettles and Willie Randolph, a 1972 Oakland Athletics Team Presentation Trophy, a 1926-29 Grover Cleveland Alexander game-used glove, new Busch Stadium’s first home run ball, and a 1945 Detroit Tigers game-worn uniform.
Boston Celtics great Frank Ramsey’s 1982 Basketball Hall of Fame Induction Trophy, his 1964 Celtics seven time world champs sterling tray and his 1958-59 Celtics team-signed photo will also be in the auction.
Two modern era basketball icons are represented with a pair of 1993 Michael Jordan signed game-worn Eastern Conference Finals shoesand a 2003-04 Lebron James signed game-issued rookie jersey.
Hockey memorabilia is headlined by 1970s game-worn jerseys from New York Rangers greats Brad Park and Jean Ratelle, Gordie Howe circa 1966 game-worn skates gifted to fellow Hall of Famer Leo Boivin, and a Wayne Gretzky 1985-86 Edmonton Oilers signed game-used stick.
Additional horse racing memorabilia up for auction include Triple Crown winner Citation’s 1948 Belmont Stakes-winning Triple Crown horseshoe, 1938-58 Eddie Arcaro Kentucky Derby Silver Mint Julep Trophy Cups, Foolish Pleasure’s 1975 Kentucky Derby-winning horseshoe, Battleship Gray’s 1930 Wilson Stakes at Saratoga Silver Trophy, and a 19th century horse racing gaming wheel with rare original counter.
