Topps Chrome Football Set Arrives

2014 Topps Chrome Football is back for another run, marking the return of one of the company’s most popular brands.  The breakdown is similar to the formula Topps has stuck with for years on both the baseball and football side:  four card packs with an emphasis on rookies.

Topps claims it has most of the autographed cards in packs with a “less than one percent” redemption card rate.

Once again, Topps is offering a shout out to some vintage designs from the past like 1963 with some extra Superfractors ready to make their debut.

Rookie Autograph Patches numbered to 50 will be another new element.

There are eight types of autographed refractors including 1/5 Reds and 1/1 Superfractors that won’t be pulled from anything except hobby boxes.  Topps promises on card autographs for rookie autographs.  In a late twist, Topps says Johnny Manziel has signed some of his cards “Money” Manziel.

For inserts, Topps will draw upon a few sets from the past.  The company’s preliminary information for 2014 Chrome Football included a mockup for cards based on the ’63 Topps design.  There will be a 1/1 Superfractor version of the ’63 design as well as for the 1965 and 1985 designs, which will also be in the mix.
