A collection of more than 140 items from the personal collection of Pro Football Hall of Famer Ronnie Lott will be up for auction beginning next week.
Heritage Auctions plans to offer some game-worn Lott items, autographed memorabilia, items he had collected from other athletes and additional miscellaneous pieces in its upcoming Sports Catalog Auction.
A member of the NFL’s 100th anniversary team, Lott was a first round draft pick of the San Francisco 49ers, where he spent the bulk of his career, winning four Super Bowl championships. None of Lott’s Super Bowl rings are part of the auction, but the jersey he wore in that fourth title game in January 1990 will be up for sale and is expected to sell for at least $40,000.
Other items that the 62-year-old former safety has put up for sale include two jerseys from his time with the New York Jets, a Pro Bowl jersey, his 1981 Hula Bowl jersey, his 1980 USC Rose Bowl jacket and a bloodstained jersey worn in the 1995 preseason when he was with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Lott’s 1987 49ers playbook, a three-ring binder with 500 pages of defensive alignments and team instructions for off-field behavior, is among the other interesting pieces. Lott has added his signature on the front.
A collection featuring over 700 of his own football cards is among the lots as well as dozens of autographed items from other athletes and gifts he received from various sports teams will also be offered.
The auction is set to open April 21 with the entire catalog closing over a three-night period May 12-14.
