Cubs’ first baseman Anthony Rizzo has teamed up with Fanatics Authentic for a fundraising auction to benefit families affected by the recent shooting at Rizzo’s high school alma mater.
Dozens of sports items and experiences are in the auction, with more expected to be added in the coming days. All of the money generated by bidders will be donated to Marjory Stoneman Douglas victims with help from the Rizzo Family Foundation.
The highest bid thus far is for a chance to meet Rizzo and go to a game at Wrigley Field. Other lots up for bid include a private meet-and-greet with Dick Butkus at the March Fanatics sports memorabilia show in Chicago, autographed photos, baseballs, jerseys and other items from past and present athletes, a private lunch with Joe Namath and Johnny Bench, lunches Pete Rose and Dennis Rodman and other experiences with the likes of Don Mattingly, David Ortiz, Dan Marino and Jim Kelly.
The auction will continue through March 25.
