A complete 1996-97 Michael Jordan game-worn Chicago Bulls road uniform sold for $295,200 as Goldin Auctions wrapped up its latest catalog sale over the weekend. Photo matched and including a letter of authenticity from the team, the uniform was worn during a game in April 1997. The price was more than $100,000 higher than any previous sale of a Jordan Bulls jersey.
Basketball memorabilia was a big part of the auction, which was delayed by server issues and eventually split into three parts. When it was all totaled, the company had recorded $11 million in sales and set records for traffic, winning bidders and unique winners in a single auction event.
The auction also raised a combined $125,000 for three charities including: the MambaOnThree Fund, the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and the CAMCare Foundation for COVID-19 related causes at New Jersey’s Cooper Hospital and PPE at CAMCare health centers.
“This event was somewhat of a perfect storm as we had a remarkable collection of historic memorabilia supported by incredible marketing and publicity during a great market for sports collectibles,” said Ken Goldin, Founder of Goldin Auctions. “The fact that this auction was also able to benefit these three important charities is especially rewarding.”
