One of 119 copies of Michael Jordan’s 1986-87 Fleer Stickers graded PSA 10 sold for over $234,000 as Goldin Auctions closed out its first Monthly Trading Card Auction. The price broke a record for the grade established just a week earlier when another sold for $200,100 through PWCC Marketplace Auctions.
Fewer than one percent of the more than 13,000 Jordan rookie stickers graded by PSA have been awarded a Gem Mint rating.
A PSA 10 copy of Jordan’s regular rookie card from the set netted $615,000 while a BGS 9.5 went for $147,600.
In all, nine lots sold for over $100,000 in the auction, which was the first since Goldin announced plans to supplement its major catalog auctions with monthly, short term events devoted to the sizzling market for sports and Pokemon cards.
Several other Jordan cards were offered including a 1998-99 Upper Deck “Jordan Jersey Autographs” Autographed Game Used Patch Card (#3/23). Graded BGS 9.5 with a 10 autograph grade, it sold for $288,000.
A 2017 Panini National Treasures Holo Silver #161 Patrick Mahomes II Signed Patch Rookie Card (#22/25) graded BGS GEM MINT 9.5/BGS 10 soared to over $296,000 despite the Kansas City Chiefs’ loss in Super Bowl LV.
A pair of 2000 Playoff Contenders Tom Brady rookie autograph cards, each graded BGS 9/10, netted just over $100,000 each.
A 2007-08 Topps Chrome Orange Refractor #131 Kevin Durant (#179/199) rookie card graded PSA 10 reached $115,200 while a PSA 9 1979-80 Topps Wayne Gretzky landed at $93,480.
Prices include a 23 percent buyer’s premium that will be lowered by three percent if the buyer pays on time and not by credit card.
