From King Kelly to Topps Chrome, Robert Edward Auctions’ May Encore catalog pretty much runs the sports collecting gamut.
The auction, which opened Thursday, has more than 4,000 items ranging from 1887 to 2019.
Among the listings: 760 cards from the legendary T206 “Monster” set, including commons, rare backs and Hall of Famers. That list includes a Brown Lenox back Hooks Wiltse graded PSA 3.
The Yankee Clipper bats leadoff in the auction. SGC has graded only two cards higher than the SGC 8 copy that REA is offering.
There’s an SGC 7 1933 Goudey #92 Lou Gehrig and a ’33 Babe Ruth (#53) graded SGC 5.

Among the memorabilia in the auction are signed checks from Hall of Famers Honus Wagner (1921) and Ty Cobb (1952). There is also a Roberto Clemente cut signature.
“This will be our largest auction of the year so far and it spans the earliest days of the hobby to a number of popular modern items,” said REA President Brian Dwyer. “We’ve seen steady growth both in the volume of bidders and in the overall breadth of items we’re offering, which is a tremendous sign for the hobby.”
