His Super Bowl dream is over for now, but Ray Rice’s efforts in the Baltimore backfield have earned him another endorsement contract.
Baltimore Ravens’ Pro Bowl running back Ray Rice grew up just a stone’s throw from Steiner Sports headquarters in New Rochelle, New York. Now, he’s one of their clients.
Rice has signed an exclusive collectibles agreement that according to the Newark Star-Ledger, will presumably pay him well into six figures. The agreement with Steiner will involve Rice signing photographs, footballs, mini-helmets, and other collectibles, as well as appearances, signings and corporate relationships.
“Ray Rice is one of the NFL’s elite players both on and off the field,” said CEO Brandon Steiner. “We are delighted to have him join the Steiner family of athletes. He is a force to be reckoned with on the grid iron and in corporate America.”
The Rutgers product was the Ravens 2nd round selection (55th overall) in the 2008 NFL Draft. Rice has amassed 1,952 yards and eight touchdowns this season, was one of a trio of AFC running backs selected to the Pro Bowl. The Ravens’ season ended Saturday night with a loss to the Indianapolis to play the Colts in an AFC Divisional playoff game.
“I’ve known Ray a long time, and it’s great that he’s from New Rochelle — but you don’t let emotion influence business decisions. That’s how you get in trouble,” Steiner told the paper. “We see Ray Rice — because of the person he is and the player he has become — as a good investment.”
