Some people hang out along the dugout railing or wait outside the players’ parking lot hoping a few will stop and sign autographs. Randy Kaplan has been there and done that but you’re more likely to find him in the shadows of history. He collects baseballs signed by world leaders. Presidents, prime ministers, generals, secretaries of state. You name it, he has them. Or wants them.
The Long Island resident has been known to go to great lengths to get the autographs of those who lead third world nations.
Some, obviously, aren’t all that accessible. That just makes him work a little harder to build his collection of autographed baseballs.
Kaplan’s collection includes far more than just political folks but it’s clearly the most unique part. News 12 Long Island stopped by to see it–and hear some of the stories from the chase.
