One of the hobby’s larger retailers of modern era unopened sports card boxes is Pittsburgh Sports Cards, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. In addition to two retail shops in the Pittsburgh area, where the Pirates are generating some renewed excitement, the company sells cards, autographs and other memorabilia to collectors all over the world. They also buy thousands of boxes each year.
They’ve been a regular at major shows for more than a decade.
Not far from the corporate booths run by the card companies, Pittsburgh Sports had a busy and active booth during the National Sports Collectors Convention in Baltimore.
There wasn’t much time to chat between customers, but Sean Bennett talked about some of those hot products and what the card companies need to do to keep those buyers coming.
This year’s baseball products have done well, but sometimes it’s those less publicized releases that collectors are clamoring for.
