Since the early 1990s, collectors have been able to count on a big sports memorabilia and autograph show in western Pennsylvania that’s always worth the trip.
This year is no different.
The 250-table three-day event returns May 17-19 at the Monroeville Convention Center. About 150 dealers, service providers and auction companies will be set up, offering vintage and modern cards and memorabilia. The annual show that began at Robert Morris University moved to a larger space in suburban Monroeville several years ago but the elements of one of the hobby’s oldest shows remains much the same.
Collectors will have the chance to meet and get autographs from 45 different current and former athletes brought in by show promoter Jim Candilo of Main Line Autographs.
On Friday, three-time Pro Bowler Jason Gildon and former receiver Louis Lipps will be among a quartet of current and former Steelers signing autographs.
Saturday’s guests include Wade Boggs, Tony Perez, Tim Raines, Jim Leyland, Doc Gooden, Bob Lilly, Bryan Trottier, Darryl Sittler, Pat Lafontaine and several former Pittsburgh Pirates.
On Sunday, the star-studded lineup continues with Joe Theismann, Lawrence Taylor, Troy Polamalu, Joe Greene, Alan Faneca, Pat Freiermuth and several other current and former Steelers, plus Hall of Famer and former Pitt Panther legend Tony Dorsett.
Free autographs will be handed out to the first 200 paid admissions on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and Main Line plans giveaways and door prizes throughout the weekend.
Admission is $10 per day with three-day passes available for $25. VIP passes are sold out.
