You have to love modern graphic artistry. Not that long ago, trying to create an image of a player wearing a variety of different uniforms was a laborious process. We all remember the 1970s and 80s airbrushing on those old Topps cards, right? No more. Now, when a player who has worn but one uniform his entire career is heading elsewhere, we can dress him up any way we want. Picturing Peyton Manning in a different uniform might not be something Colts fans want to see, but the rest of us are curious.
Manning has met with the Broncos, Cardinals, Dolphins and Titans in the last several days. There’s no word on where he’s headed as of this hour, but it probably won’t be long.
What would he look like in one of those uniforms?
Number 18 is actually a retired number in Denver. Frank Tripucka wore it back in the early days of the old AFL. Tripucka, though, says he’s just fine with seeing the old jersey back on the field one more time.
Panini America set about to creating some ‘what if’ cards of the NFL’s most popular free agent (see the others below) using its 2012 Prestige design. Manning is expected to make his final decision fairly soon, which would no doubt set the presses rolling for real.
