A new book drawing on the Baseball Hall of Fame’s extensive collection of photographs is now available.
Picturing America’s Pastime: Historic Photography from the Baseball Hall of Fame Archives is a 320-page peek into baseball, its personalities, landmarks and history.
Drawing on the Hall of Fame’s archive of more than 300,000 unique images, the Museum’s curatorial team utilized some rarely seen photos of players, fans, umpires and ballparks.
Each image is accompanied by an historic quote and a detailed caption, often highlighting little-known information about the photographers and techniques used across the 150-plus years covered in the book, which is 8×10 in size.
The volume is part of a new partnership between the Hall of Fame and Mango Publishing that will result in additional books in the years to come.
Hall of Famer and accomplished photographer Randy Johnson wrote the foreword for Picturing America’s Pastime, which is priced at $34.95. More information and a link to order can be found here.
