It’s a name and a place that have been associated with the hobby since the 1970s. The Valley Forge Convention Center in King of Prussia, Pa., opens its doors to the Philly Show Friday-Sunday.
About 100 of the hobby’s most familiar dealers and auction houses will be set up for the fall event, which is now run by Hunt Auctions. The Philly Show began in the ’70s as the Eastern Pennsylvania Sports Collectors Club and has been held in the area ever since.
Show hours are 3-8 p.m. Friday; 9-5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $8 or $21 for a weekend pass.
Doc Gooden is the autograph guest Friday night. On Saturday, Julius Erving stops by ($129-149 per ticket), along with Allen Iverson, Bill Mazeroski and several players from Phillies teams gone by.
On Sunday, it’s Moses Malone and Artis Gilmore headlining.
The Philly Show returns Dec. 2-4.
