He can’t sign any Hall of Fame plaques, but Pete Rose was back in upstate New York over the weekend, pen in hand.
It will go down as one of the more wacky baseball stories of our era.
Pete Rose–not eligible for the Hall of Fame–but still in Cooperstown just about every Hall of Fame induction weekend, signing autographs at a sports memorabilia shop. He’s still the businessman and still has plenty of admirers, even if just about everyone who ever wanted a Rose autograph probably has one by now.
Give him credit, though. One New England newspaper in town for the weekend found that unlike a lot of paid autograph signers, he’s usually willing to tell a tale or two about his playing days.
