Hoops won’t be the only new basketball product arriving close to the start of the new NBA season. Panini will also bring its Prizm line to a college-oriented hoops set on October 16. 2019-20 Prizm Draft Picks basketball will give collectors a shot at some of early Zion Williamson autographs.
It’ll be the first product featuring this year’s draft class that’s produced on chromium card stock.
2019-20 Panini Prizm Draft Picks Basketball Basics/Base Set
Panini is promising five packs per box with eight cards in each pack. It’s a fairly simple configuration with each box containing five autographs (stickers rather than on card autos, according to promotional material), 15 base parallels and 20 base cards. There don’t appear to be any relic cards in the mix.
Each case will hold 16 boxes.
The base set will include three different designs: one that looks similar to other Prizm-branded cards; another entitled All-Americans and a third one that uses an old Panini favorite, Crusades. Each will have various colored parallel versions. Gold, Gold Vinyl, Black Mosaic will be among the other parallel labels exclusive to hobby boxes but it’s unclear if they’ll be spread across the entire run of base, autographs and inserts.
Color Blast, an artsy looking design will have a checklist of 20 players.
Draft Picks Prizm Autographs will be the primary autograph issue with Panini showcasing Gold and Silver versions in its pre-release info.
College Ties will showcase autographs from two teammates. The Williamson-R. J. Barrett combo could be a big one if each lives up to their billing.
