Baseball season will be underway but Panini’s Player of the Day NBA Promotion is aimed at keeping sales going during the playoffs.
Starting in mid-April, about 400 hobby shops in the U.S. will participate in the program, which offers collectors the chance to win prizes for buying Panini’s NBA trading cards. The company says it will distribute 50,000 prizes during its month-long run. Each shop will have an autographed card to give away to one collector while the grand prize is the opportunity to spend a day with an NBA star.
Each store will have a poster with one player from each of the 30 NBA teams, one of which will be designated as the “Player of the Day”. When collectors buy Panini basketball cards and pull that player—or a card of Kobe Bryant or Kevin Durant—they’ll win one of 100 NBA Player of the Day promo packs given to each shop. Shops will also draw weekly prize winners from the pool of daily winners.
The set of cards from the promo packs handed out to POD winners includes 25 different players (see the checklist below). There are Cracked Ice parallels of each along with nine memorabilia cards randomly inserted in packs.
The autographed cards that will be given away by each shop next month will be slabbed by Beckett Grading and include Kristaps Porzingis, Justise Winslow, Devin Booker, Marcus Smart, Harrison Barnes, Giannis Antetokounmpo and others.
