Panini has kicked off a pair of annual contests in conjunction with the start of the NFL season.

Nearly 600 hobby shops across the U.S. are participating in the program, which offers thousands of prizes including an opportunity to spend a day with a player.
The contest includes exclusive cards that collectors can win by pulling specified players out of Panini’s NFL trading card packs.
The checklist includes veteran stars, Rookie Cards, memorabilia cards, striking parallels and autographs from more than 50 players, including 21 rookies and Hall of Famers such as Troy Aikman, Steve Young and Deion Sanders.
Last year, J.P. Murnan, a 26-year-old diesel mechanic from Overland Park, Kan., was among the more than 150,000 NFL card collectors who participated in the Player of the Day contest. As the Grand Prize winner, Murnan had a chance to meet Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes II.
Past players have included K.J. Wright, Jeremy Langford, Terrence West, Antonio Brown, Prince Amukamara, Beanie Wells, Pierre Thomas, Patrick Crayton, Steve Slaton, AJ Feely, Maurice Jones-Drew, Chris Simms, Rudi Johnson, Donald Driver, Ed McCaffrey, Chad Pennington and Frank Wycheck.
