Make way for another on-demand trading card program, but this one won’t necessarily be as fresh as the day’s headlines.
Three months after announcing its “Instant” on-demand program to rival Topps NOW, Panini America has launched Panini Eternal, which promises to deliver cards “honoring important moments in sports history, along with special tributes and commemorations of past championships.”
he new initiative launched Wednesday, just ahead of the Broncos-Panthers Super Bowl rematch. Panini’s first Eternal offering is a tribute to Peyton Manning with trading cards that incorporate pieces of a game-used football from Super Bowl 50. The cards will be available to order on the Panini Eternal website for 48 hours. Card No. 2 in the series will be available on Friday.
For all Panini Eternal offerings, there will be unnumbered regular versions as well as editions numbered to 99, 50, 25, 10, five and one. There also will be “base”
versions of all cards that do not include pieces of game-used memorabilia. Prices range from $9.99 for the standard card to $2,499.99 for a 1/1 version. The cheapest memorabilia card is $99.99.
“Panini Eternal is about capturing history — game-specific memorabilia from the milestone moments in sports – and sharing it directly with fans and collectors,” stated Panini America CEO Mark Warsop. “There’s nothing else quite like it in the NFL collectibles arena and we’re excited to begin this landmark journey with a tribute to Peyton Manning, the Denver Broncos and Super Bowl 50.”
New Panini Eternal products will be offered throughout the year on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on this page.
