Nationally renowned sports artist Brian Fox has teamed up with Boston Red Sox designated hitter and six-time All-Star David Ortiz to create a one of a kind painting of the greatest clutch-hitter in the history of the franchise.
The autographed oil painting is now up for auction. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the painting will help raise money for the David Ortiz Children’s Fund, founded in 2007 to provide critical pediatric healthcare to children in New England and the Dominican Republic.
“Brian’s painting perfectly captures how I feel and what goes through my mind when I cross home plate after a homerun,” said Mr. Ortiz. “I am grateful that Brian is supporting a cause that I care so much about.”
“I am a die-hard Red Sox fan and thrilled to be working with Big Papi in order to help raise money for a critically important cause,” said Fox. “David’s leadership and fierce hitting ended the 86-year ‘Curse of the Bambino’ and put championship rings on Red Sox fingers that made fans around the country, including me, rejoice.”
In addition, Ortiz is also exhibiting Fox’s other popular legacy paintings of sports icons at his restaurant.
Fox has teamed up with numerous sports icons over the years to raise money for their favorite charitable organizations. In addition to Curt Schilling, Fox has worked with Josh Beckett, the Major League Baseball Players Association, Rachel Robinson and others to raise substantial monies for their charities, including the ALS Association, Major League Baseball Players Trust, Josh Becket Foundation, Providence College and the Jackie Robinson Foundation.
Bidding starts at $2500. To see the painting, click here.
